going into week 5

Things have escalated, the army men have fallen.

Not only are we remodeling the kitchen but we are sheet rocking the ceilings in the dining room and living room. Today we met met Lucky, the sheet rock guy. He thought today was Monday and was a bit surprised to find out it was Sunday. But after we set him straight on the day of the week we talked about how we were going to do all of this and in the course of events he offered to patch our walls for no extra charge. The 130 year old lath and plaster and painted over wallpaper etc does have more than a few cracks. So, this means "the rockers", as Lucky refers to them, need access to the walls. So the screwed to the wall for earthquake reasons bookshelves need to be emptied. And even more stuff need to come out of the living room. And we do have a lot of stuff.

Since everything is covered with a layer of dust anyway, oh well, here we go. And let me just say that the walls behind various pieces of furniture were less that spotless. I think gross might be a better description. I barely clean in front of pieces of furniture let alone behind. The cats are very confused and seem to have different coping methods. Dash pulled out a toy he hasn't played with in months and dragged it upstairs. Aero, well, he's more zen about all of this and just sees opportunities for different places of rest.

And look at the lovely insulation we now have.

In case you think we are slipping in the ambience department we are still dining by candlelight and with cloth napkins, trying to maintain some sense of romance. But we are both so tired we agreed we were going out to dinner tonight.
