cookie contest today at building 14

I'm working on presentation. Note to myself, buy a small heart shape cookie cutter. These little ones are somewhat organically formed into hearts, but then I had to do somethings to celebrate Valentine's Day. Walking in from Farmer's Market right now my nose was treated to the wonderful scent of a kitchen that had just baked pecan shortbread.
Competition could be stiff today. Will Liz be able to hold on to the trophy for three years running? Or can Douglas steal it back.A report will follow.

year of the rooster

Before the New Year comes, one of the Chinese New Year customs is to clean the house from top to bottom to get rid off all the bad luck gathered in the previous year.
And after the New Year comes, you cannot sweep during the first days otherwise all the new luck will sweep away.
So I only got the upstairs clean today, but hopefully that will do to clear away last year's bad luck. And I guess I can postpone any more cleaning until next week.

1/21/2017 Oakland

I have been trying to think of words to describe the Women's March in Oakland yesterday and they haven't really come to me. But as soon as my neighbors and I got out of the car in Oakland we knew we had done the right thing. So I will just post pictures of the women, and men, children, adults, many sporting pink hats, all coming together with like minds in support of equal rights and respect for all races and genders.

settling in

Aero, Dash and I are settled in for the morning. Coffee has been consumed, the day as planned as it gets. A lunch date was added and since the only planned activity was a batch of cookies to be baked I managed to squeeze it into the schedule. Since things were going so well I decided to introduce a little extra into the morning. I think I will see if I can use the old notebook and blog upstairs in the comfort of my leather chair. A seemingly simple endeavor, hah! The notebook isn't used on a regular basis and thus, the endless updates. Okay, got by those. Now to sign into my blog. Password? It is set on my desktop to automatically login, a convenient and dangerous tool. 2017 resolution is to come up with a better method (better is used loosely) to track passwords. Okay, I'll go downstairs and login into my gmail account, seldom used (but automatically logged in) and change to the password and write it down. Okay back upstairs. Now, battery low, okay back downstairs to get cord. Okay, now coffee has run through, I'll be right back.
I'm back, now what was I going to write about? Something I think about settling in to retirement. Oh maybe I'll just go back to knitting and wait for lunch time.

closing the year

I decided I should post my year in review in photos. The one thing I miss in the digital age is the scrapbooks I would put together at the end of the year. But then I don't miss the baskets of photos that somehow just never were pasted anywhere.

winter at Island Yoga

My Alameda yoga studio, Island Yoga , moved to it's new location today. This afternoon we gathered for a photo shoot. We practiced some of our yoga postures and gave the room a good workout.

And then we went outside to catch the sunset.

Many thanks to the photographer.
