outdoor kitchen refinements

We've added the Coleman stove, giving us the ability make the neighbors smell our breakfast bacon cooking

The chairs were added to the outdoor table so we can dine on the lawn. Note, sleeping Aero on the left.

Note coffee setup, and thanks so much to the Mikes for the use of their electric kettle. We like it so much we may to buy ourselves one when we move back indoors.

day three

Could someone explain to me what and why we are doing this? Oh you are going with a grey tabby paint scheme? Ok then.

kitchen remodel day 2

Or we have just realized why people move out of their house during a remodel. We did get the call from the contractor that the demo was far more complicated, was not going to be able to be completed in a day, would cost more, and there was dust everywhere. In fact we both were somewhat prepared for the phone call.
I walked in impressed at viewing the bones of my 130 year old house. History behind the walls, along with massive quantities of black dust. The cats were less impressed, Dash may never come in the house again, Aero was curious. Aero is far more adventurous than Dashiell. This is going to be an interesting experience.

camping in style

The kitchen is so empty sounds echo. The weekend has been spent dismantling and moving everything out to nooks and crannies, some crannies larger than others.
Up and down stairs, over and over again. I think the whole Pods industry was created for people who don't have basements. We have moved the larger items, like the stove and refrigerator into the dining room. The bar now resides in the living room and the orange table is serving as our summer kitchen.

I keep telling myself, unlike true camping, we have a microwave, toaster oven, a flush toilet, and a bathtub. We meet with our general contractor tomorrow at 8:00 am and the demo crew arrives Tuesday. Dinner was produced with the help of our new small propane grill and cleanup in the basement wash tubs went smoothly.
Dash and Aero are very confused, but Aero likes the placement of the Adirondack chairs on the lawn.

Wish us luck, because we know that when dealing with a house that was built in 1886 there are always surprises that lurk behind walls.
